9 x 12 inches, oil paint on wood panel copyright 2009, John A. Brecht, all rights reserved
This painting was executed last June on what I recall to be the hottest day of the summer. I was on Cathedral Aisle in Hitchcock Woods at Aiken, SC. It was late morning and it seemed that I had the entire woods to myself. No horses or hikers were traversing this long straight trail through the woods. I found a spot in the shade and painted.
I JUST LOVE THIS PAINTING. THE VARIOUS SHADES OF GREEN ARE SO VIBRANT! I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED HOW YOU SHAPE VARIOUS LEAVES, AND THE ONES IN THIS PAINTING ARE NO EXCEPTION. I COULD SIT, AND LOOK AT THIS PICTURE FOR A LONG TIME. IT CERTAINLY MAKES ME WISH I COULD VISIT THESE WOODS MYSELF. IT IS SO PEACEFUL,AND, VIBRANTLY ALIVE LOOKING.

John,
I love this one. I have it as my desktop, hope you don't mind. I see the south road at Thunder Mountain, on hot August day, where it intersceted with the long drive to the three cabins on the bluff: ours, Westin, and Colby.
Very nice piece. First dibbs to BUY, if still available.
