Dune at Goose Wing

This painting is of the dune behind Goose Wing Beach at the Atlantic Ocean at Little Compton, Rhode Island. I painted this while standing in a warm October sun with the waves breaking behind me -- a rather nice serenade as I worked. The structure is an old boat house.

IT IS HARD TO TAKE MY EYES OFF THIS PAINTING OF THE DUNE. IT IS LIKE BEING IN A MOST BEAUTIFUL DREAM, WHERE YOU ARE AWARE OF BEING IN THE DREAM STATE, OF WHICH YOU DON'T WANT TO WAKE UP FROM!

The trees were just beginning to leaf out. I am drawn to distant hillside meadows. They all appear to be peaceful, quiet places. I am sure it is more an ideal than a reality. Private Collection
