This piece is one that has grown on me. Sometimes I will put a painting away, doubting its merit, and return to it later to discover its inherent strengths. That is why I always try to suspend my expectations when I paint -- a task easier said than done.

It was my first time in that area and my first time painting in the mountains. The regional colors are different from the Mid-lands of South Carolina. There was a spring-time green "tint" everywhere.
